I am struggling to find exactly how I can use counter arguments against the points on social medias effects on politics, business, and communication. Is it that some people will say that social media has not effected society in those ways?

Your counter-arguments will depend on what your initial points are about the cause and effect relationship of social media to the American culture.  It really just depends on which direction you are taking your argument.

For help identifying some positive and negative views about the effects of social media, you may want to go to the PRO/CON website to get a feel for what some views are of the good and bad things associated with social media.  Depending on what some of your arguable points are on the effects, you may be able to locate some oppositional views to your causal statements.
